Chat-n-Read Dramatic Reading of Children's Book, "A Pet for Fly Guy" by Tedd Arnold
In my latest Chat-n-Read episode, chat about having a pet and enjoy a fun read-aloud of "A Pet for Fly Guy" by Tedd Arnold.
How many of you would love to have a pet? Lots of hands in the air, right? I know I'd love to have a horse and a parrot and a cat and a dog and a guinea pig and a rabbit and...well...I don't know that I could all have all of those pets. But I bet we could all have a FLY for a pet! Hm...how does that sound? :)
I raised a couple fruit flies in High School Biology, when studying Genetics. My lab partner and I named our fruit flies, Igor and Sequilla. We even had a song to go with their names (Isn’t everything better with a song?). And then Igor and Sequilla had tons of babies which we did not name! We tracked what genetic characteristics were passed down and released the whole lot of them to the great outdoors (I’m sure a few found their way back into our Science Room!).
I’m not the only one who took care of a fly. Buzz, in the Fly Guy series (by Tedd Arnold), has a pet fly too! And his fly is super cool because he can TALK (although his vocabulary is kind of limited to “Z” words….Eh, I’ll take it!).
Enjoy my read-aloud of "A Pet for Fly Guy" when Fly Guy starts wanting a pet of his own. But what kind of pet should a fly have? If anyone can answer that question, it's the duo Buzz and Fly Guy!
