Plays for Shark Week!

Yes, it’s Shark Week, everyone! That means we’re going to celebrate those often-feared (tiger sharks are not very choosy with their prey!), sometimes cute (those adorable baby hammerheads??) creatures of the sea! And of course, why not pair your documentary-watching, shark-drink sipping experience with some theater, right?

Here are two shark-friendly theater pieces for you to enjoy this Shark Week (or really, any week of the year!), I am a Shark (a monologue) and The Shipwreck Solution (a one-act play).

SHARK-FRIENDLY THEATER

I AM A SHARK - A great dramatic sensory monologue for kids, teens and adults (male/female/any gender), with a running time of around 2 minutes.

Jamie is bullied on an outing to the beach, but knows how to call on his strength to endure. His skin is tough. He feels no pain. He is a shark.

THE SHIPWRECK SOLUTION - A great one-act comedy for children, young audiences or young actors. And it has 2 sharks in it! The cast is for 4 actors (child/teen/adult) of any gender, with unlimited non-speaking sea-creature roles. It runs about 5-10 minutes long.

What do a box jellyfish, a mako shark, an anglerfish and a tiger shark have in common? They all want to live in the same abandoned shipwreck on the ocean floor! No one wants to share, no one wants to live somewhere else and…uh oh…what if someone can’t help but want to eat someone else? Can these four, very different creatures, can find a way to work it out?
